Flatiron Building
Flatiron Building nebo Fuller Building, leží v městské čtvrti Manhattan a byla jednou z nejvyšších budov v New Yorku když byla v roce 1902 dokončena. Leží na trojúhelníkovém bloku na 23rd Street, Fifth Avenue a na Broadway.
Architektura
Flatiron Building byla navržena chicagským architektem Danielem Burnhamem společně s Johnen Wellborn Rootem ve stylu Beaux-Arts. Jako klasický řecký sloup je z vápence a glazované terakoty. Fasáda je rozdělena do tří horizontálních částí. Jelikož to byla jedna z prvních budov, která měla konstrukci z ocele, mohla dosahovat výšky 87 m, což by pomocí ostatních metod v té době byl jen těžko dosažitelný výsledek.
Prvotní design, který navrhl Daniel Burnham, představoval stejný design na jedno postavení, ale mnohem nákladnější s četnými nevýhodami blízko výšky. Ciferník byl viditelný. Nicméně po poradě s Johnem Wellborn Rootem byl z designu odstraněn.
